Jon Voight shares his plans to take back Hollywood
It’s 2025 and the list of things changing in America is long, and Hollywood may be the next thing on that list. Jon Voight, the actor known for his roles in Ali, Holes, and National Treasure, has recently met with American President Donald Trump to discuss how to, well, “make Hollywood great again.” Voight met with the President at Mar-a-Lago this past Saturday to discuss his plans. So, what are his plans to take back Hollywood and revitalize the American film and television industries?
Part of his plan involves positive incentives. For example, there would be tax credits up to 10% and 20% provided to states for American film-making. But if production companies want to make a film internationally when they could have produced it in the States there would be tariffs involved: “120% of the value of the foreign incentive received.” This is in hopes to steer the American film industry back to its own shores. All of this is part of a plan to revitalize Hollywood and the American film scene. In fact, films would need to “meet a minimum AMERICAN “Culture Test”” to comply with the plans. And yes, these changes would apply to both digital platforms and streaming services as well.
Voight’s plans – which can be read in the link here from Deadline – are all about bringing production back to America. In fact, he wants “infrastructure tax credits” for studios, production facilities, and training Americans to do jobs in this industry. Voight wants to bring jobs and a competitive spirit back to America’s film world. President Trump seems to be open to making some shake-ups in Hollywood according to his recent statements. So, maybe there will be some backing to Voight’s ideas.
What’s on the horizon for film and television in America? Only time will tell. But whatever lies ahead, rest assured that The Cultured Nerd will be here to cover it!
