Superman Cast Confirms ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Sequel Slated for July 9, 2027

Power suit. Cosmic threats. The Superman saga continues in 2027 with a new chapter in the DCU.

The next chapter in James Gunn’s Superman Saga has officially been revealed — and it’s coming sooner than fans expected.

Today, director James Gunn, along with stars David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), confirmed the sequel to Superman (2025) is titled Man of Tomorrow and will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.

Each shared a different comic panel featuring Superman and Lex, with Luthor suited up in his iconic green and purple power armor.

The illustrations — created by Mitch Gerads, Jim Lee, and Jorge Jiménez — show various takes on the Superman vs. Lex dynamic, with some panels highlighting combat and others showing the two characters side by side. The imagery has fueled speculation that the sequel could explore a reluctant alliance, with Superman and Luthor forced to unite against a greater threat.

As previously reported by The Cultured Nerd, Gunn has already completed the treatment for the film, which forms part of what WBD CEO David Zaslav once referred to as the “Super Family” slate.

In a recent behind-the-scenes featurette for Superman, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Brainiac has sparked growing theories that the sequel may introduce the iconic alien villain. With Supergirl and Krypto confirmed in this year’s film, many fans believe Man of Tomorrow could unite the trio in defense of Earth.

Superman, released this past July, officially launched the new DC Universe. The film was warmly received by critics and audiences alike, earning over $600 million worldwide, and praised for its performances, tone, and fresh take on the character.

With Superman laying the groundwork, the DCU’s next chapter arrives on June 26, 2026, as Milly Alcock’s Supergirl takes flight in her first solo film.

More than just a sequel, Man of Tomorrow appears set to expand Superman’s legacy — possibly bringing together Supergirl, Krypto, and others to face a cosmic-level threat, all while Lex Luthor continues playing both sides of the conflict.

The DCU is finally in flight — and with Superman landing strong, Supergirl up next, and Man of Tomorrow on the horizon, it’s clear this new universe isn’t just being built…it’s accelerating.
