‘Tron: Ares’ full trailer is here!
It’s been 15 years since Disney released its last Tron film, Tron: Legacy. But now Disney is inviting us back to the Grid with the latest installment in the franchise, Tron: Ares. Starring Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges, Ares promises to be a different kind of ride than before, and the most recent full-length trailer shows just that! Watch the trailer below and let’s break it down!
The trailer opens with a large red aircraft flying towards a city and a voiceover from Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters) speaking about technology and AI. We then see him present his masterpiece, a digital program named Ares (Leto), to a group of military leaders calling the program the “ultimate soldier.” As the trailer goes on we see Ares and other programs dressed in red light throughout the city and even on the Grid fighting programs dressed in blue light. A lady speaks with Dillinger telling him that he’s not in control, seemingly referring to control over his digital creation. As for Ares, he says he is “Looking for something – something I do not understand.” We proceed to witness more fighting, light cycles, and digital fun as the trailer wraps up with Kevin Flynn (Bridges) speaking with Ares about his desire to be real.
The visually stunning trailer will remind Tron fans of its predecessor but this time with an emphasis on the real world. This time the programs are stepping out of the Grid. This time everything’s changed.
Fans will certainly be excited to learn more lore, watch more light cycles and aircrafts, and witness the return of Kevin Flynn who, last we saw, was making a grand sacrifice to save his son – and earth. Audiences will have to wait until October 10th to see how this all plays out.
