DC’s “Black Adam” Now in Final Week of Filming

Dwayne Johnson confirms “Black Adam” is close to the end of filming.

The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change real soon!

Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on July 3rd, 2021 announced via an Instagram post that his forthcoming superhero movie, Black Adam, will be in its final stretch of production for filming next week. Black Adam is a spin-off of the 2019 movie, Shazam! that starred Zachary Levi as the titular hero and was directed by David F. Sandberg.

While plot details of the film are still unknown, it has previously been confirmed the movie will feature members of the Justice Society of America; including Dr. Fate, Hawkman, and Atom Smasher. In the comics, Black Adam is an ancient Egyptian known to be the arch-rival and predecessor to Billy Batson‘s Shazam. It is expected that the film will focus on some form of an origin story of Black Adam’s whilst connecting him to the Justice Society of America.

Black Adam is scheduled to release in theatres on July 29, 2022. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and alongside Johnson, also stars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, and former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan.
