HBO Releases Teaser for Jordan Peele’s Next Horror Venture “Lovecraft Country”
Lovecraft Country is an HBO original series executive-produced by Jordan Peele and based on the novel by Matt Ruff. The plot features characters in “a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback” (HBO). The show is expected to premiere in August, but HBO offered a peek at its teaser trailer today.
Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) continues to add thoughtful works to his resume that tell timely stories on topics like racism through the perspective of horror. Latest in this vein is Lovecraft Country, an HBO original series set to premiere in August 2020. The series follows main character Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) as he undertakes a mission to find his missing father during the 1950s. Atticus and his companions will face eldritch horrors and sinister cults, under the constant shadow of Jim-Crow-era racism.
Lovecraft Country is executive-produced by creators Misha Greene and Jordan Peele, along with J.J. Abrams, Bill Carraro, Yann Demange, Daniel Sackheim, and David Knoller. The talents of Jonathan Majors (When We Rise) are joined by Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Birds of Prey), Wunmi Mosaku (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story), and Michael Kenneth Williams (When They See Us). Lovecraft Country is set to premiere on HBO in August 2020.
