Rumors suggest The Last Guardian was canceled; Sony repeats its still in production
The Last Guardian can be considered to many as the “Great Unicorn” of this gaming generation. Toted as the spiritual successor to ICO and Shadow Of The Colossus, the game itself has been extremely enigmatic over the years concerning its production, what console is getting it, and any real update on what the game is about since its initial reveal back in 2007.
Last night IGN posted a report that indicated the game was finally canceled which spread like a wildfire.
IGN has received a report this evening that “The Last Guardian is finally cancelled.” According to our sources, the information was disclosed in “Sony’s internal meeting last week.”
And then later updating the article, clarifying its source:
According to an internal source speaking to IGN Russia, the information was disclosed in “Sony’s internal meeting last week.”
But then to everyone’s relief Sony responded to the rumored reports indicating the game was very much still alive.
Scott Rhode, PlayStation Software Product Development Head for Sony Worldwide Studios America (yeah, he has an impressive title), took to twitter to debunk this:
@notaxation @yosp and I laughed at this rumor over dinner. The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled.

So hopefully this can help lay this rumor to rest, but the big question is still the status of this game. With E3 happening within the next couple of days it is still possible that we could see this game there, although it is highly unlikely at this point due to the sheer timing of the whole situation.
