Ubisoft Lands Deadpool Writers for Watch_Dogs Movie

Watch-Dogs

The screenwriting duo that has been set to pen the upcoming Deadpool movie have signed on with Ubisoft to write the Watch_Dogs movie.

Watch_Dogs is an upcoming Ubisoft game about a hacker with a personal vendetta who uses the city itself against his enemies. The game has had its release date pushed back several times, which, coupled with the fact that movie adaptions of video games have a bit of a bad name (I’m looking at you, Prince of Persia and Doom), begs the question, “Is it a good idea to start working on a movie for a game that has yet to be released?”

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have worked on several other projects together thus far, including Zombieland and GI Joe: Retaliation. Having also been announced to write the screenplay for Zombieland 2, the team seems to have a lot on their plates.

Watch_Dogs looks like it has a lot of potential to be a fantastic game, and has already received a veritable plethora of pre-release awards and nominations, so let’s hope the duo can do the game justice.

Watch_Dogs (the game) is set to release on May 27th, 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and WiiU.
