Zack Snyder To Receive First Ever Valiant Award From The Hollywood Critics Association

Despite film critics not being too overly kind to Zack Snyder and his work in recent years, the Hollywood Critics Association has announced today that they plans to award the filmmaker with the first ever Valiant Award.

With some film critics critically mauling his previous DCEU entries (Man of Steel & Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice), the tumultuous relationship between Zack Snyder and film critics is well documented at this point. Despite this relationship, according to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Hollywood Critics Association has announced that they will present the filmmaker with the first ever Valiant Award at the 4th Annual HCA Film Awards virtual ceremony this upcoming Friday. HCA chairs, Scott and Ashley Menzel, commented on the decision to honor Zack with this award and you can check out their comments down below.

As a fan of Synder’s ever since Dawn of the Dead, I couldn’t be happier that we will be acknowledging his visionary filmmaking and resilience to overcome any obstacles.”

“As someone whose own life was impacted due to suicide, I was extremely moved by how Zack and his wife and business partner Deborah turned their incommensurable pain into altruistic action, spearheading an effort that has helped countless individuals and families.”

In case you didn’t know, Zack and Deborah Snyder decided to walk away from working on Justice League after the tragic death of their 20 year old daughter, Autumn. In the following years, while advocating and eventually promoting the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, the couple has helped raise over $500,000 for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. In addition to honoring Zack, the HCA has also announced that they will be purchasing Snyder merchandise from the fundraising website, Ink to the People, to give away to fans on social media during the ceremony, which will be donated to AFSP in the process. Nonetheless, fans will universally agree that there’s are very few out there more deserving to be the recipient of this acknowledgment of an individual’s valiant efforts than Zack Snyder himself.

The 4th annual HCA Film Awards will stream virtually on March 5 on the official HCA Facebook page and YouTube channel. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to release on March 18 exclusively on HBO Max. In addition, Zack’s next project which brings him back into the zombie genre, Army of the Dead, is set to launch on May 21 exclusively on Netflix. You can check out the latest trailers for both of Zack’s upcoming projects down below.
