J.J. Abrams explains that Star Wars is all about the “Mystery Box”

Now that it all seems to have been widely accepted, J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode VII, and from what we can tell, he was hand picked for this. However, it seems the biggest worry on everyone’s mind is, how will he tackle the story? People who know Abrams’ style know that its all about the mysteries, and whether or not  he’ll bring that love for mysteries to the universe George Lucas built is up in the air.

But thanks to the wonders of the internet, we have this clip from his 2007 Ted talk, posted on Reddit yesterday, that shows Abrams arguing that Star Wars was always about the “mystery box” because it can maintain the films suspense by naturally withholding key and vital information from the audience, I’m looking directly at you Darth Vader.
