Grand theft auto V- huge.

One of the most anticipated games of 2013 is of course, Grand theft auto V. In past games, we’ve followed a main character through trials and tribulations mixed with fun side missions and challenges that certainly kept me busy for weeks.  In this game, you follow not 1, but 3 protagonists. Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, all criminals whose stories gradually intertwine as you complete missions. When you aren’t on a quest, you can freely choose which character you play as, meanwhile, your idle characters roam around the city doing everyday routines. You can then explore the open world by playing side-missions, mini games, or doing whatever your criminal heart desires. The game takes place in Los Santos, in the state of San Andreas, kind of a mondern day southern Cali basis.

Fun fact: There’s going to be a little bit of character customization! Mostly with clothing and accessories, but not fully fledged “I want to be a blonde” or ” I am now purple” options. We even have plenty of mini-games! Some of the mini-games will include doing yoga, repossessing cars, watching lots of new t.v. shows, robbing banks, competing in triathlons, jet skiing, base-jumping, playing tennis, and partaking in a lovely afternoon of golf!

So the mega rumor was that GTA 5 is going to be “the biggest and most ambitious” GTA to date. San Andreas has the record currently for the largest map, being 13.9 square miles (36 square kilometers). For a game, that’s pretty effing huge. With a recent interview to game informer, the big question was asked:

Just how big is this world? Art director Aaron Garbut crunched the math. When you include interior and exterior spaces together, Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined, with room to spare.”

Ay dios Mio! Ambitious is a bit of an understatement. Rockstar North has set a new bar that is going to be ridiculously hard to top by any other game claiming to be huge and have an open world. I know I would never want to make that claim after this news. I know I know, it isn’t always about the size, but the performance. Se lets hope that the game play and story can back this incredible map up. Previous games have led me to believe that we wont be disappointed, but I’ve been let down before. So we’ll see spring of 2013!
