CONFIRMED [E3 2012] Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation will hit the PS VITA this fall

Initially posted by neogaf as a rumor, twitter has revealed a few pics (here, and here) that may have confirmed its truth.

According to the rumors posted by Neogaf, the game will be titled Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation take place in the years of 1765 – 1780 (around the French and Indian War). The story will take place in New Orleans (and have no real connection to Desmond other than a possible cameo of AC3 star Connor) and will also take players down to the Gulf and into Mexico.

The female assassin pictured above is rumored to be named Aveline, and although the story points are vague, it appears her mentor will be an escaped slave named Agate, who is the leader of the Assassins in New Orleans. The site mentions gameplay dynamics that are specifically tailored for the PS Vita, and will feature “true Assassin’s Creed gameplay”, unlike any of the other handheld attempts. The game will also feature a similar wildlife interactions as found in AC3 (the latest trailer showed Connor being confronted by a wild Bear) with the Vita counterpart will be tackling wildlife creatures like alligators who “hide beneath murky waters.”

However, according to the site, rumors are saying that  the game has been released as a “propaganda tool by Abstergo, who want players to experience a gray area of the Assassin/Templar conflict as an Assassin rather than a Templar.”

All things considered, I am extremely excited for this, and hopefully the rumors are true, and we get a real confirmation of its existence later this week at E3.
