Scream VII Director Steps Away From Film
Whether you’re into horror movies or not, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the famous slasher series Scream. You may love the films, hate them, or have never given them a watch, but you probably recognize Ghostface. The series continues to move forward with Scream VII on the horizon, but it’s already off to a scary start.
It started with actress Melissa Barrera being fired from the project. Then, news broke that Jenna Ortega – now famous for her Netflix series Wednesday – was also stepping away from the movie.
Director Christopher Landon has announced that he’s leaving the project, too. He posted on X on December 23rd, “I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago. This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on.”
Losing two actresses and a director doesn’t sound like a good start for the latest installment in the franchise. Only time will tell who the next director will be and whether the film will rise above its rocky beginnings.
