Its a rare thing to see a video game get a price drop before it even releases, but that’s what we’re getting here with Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, at least with the PS4 and Xbox One editions that is.

Earlier today In a press release, Konami announced today that the official price of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has been lowered from $40 to $30 for both the retail and digital copies of the game, making both versions identical in price, which before this change they had a $10 price difference depending on which version you bought.

Konami stated that they are dropping the price with the hope to:

“provide as many people as possible an opportunity to experience Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine and the first installment in the two-part METAL GEAR SOLID V experience.”

But that’s not all, It was also revealed that those early adapters, who purchase a first-run copy of the game, will be receiving an exclusive DLC for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain once it’s been released. The DLC will not only give players additional resources for their Mother Base (which is introduced in Ground Zeroes) but any VIP’s or POW’s captured in Ground Zeroes will carry over directly to The Phantom Pain, giving an added advantage while playing the game.

The final reveal that today’s press reveal made was that the game itself will will feature a “Second-screen iDROID app”, which replicates Big Boss’ in-game communication/map device. The app will be downloadable via iOS, Android, and Xbox Smart Glass for free, and will sync the main action to a secondary device. Very similar to other “second screen” companion apps, this iDROID app will allow users can call up maps, summon air support, or play any of the cassette tapes found throughout the game.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be released on March 18 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
