Star Trek 3 to film next year? With J.J. Abrams still directing?

Recently the site Buzzhub caught up with actor Zachary Quinto, the actor who now stars as Spock in the recent Star Trek film rebooted series, and to everyone’s surprise seems to be very confident with the idea of J.J Abrams coming back to direct the 3rd despite his recent obligations to Star Wars and Disney.

“Star Trek 3 should be filming, I suppose, next year. It’s going to be made a lot quicker than the last one. That’s the plan, although nothing is confirmed yet.”

As the interview progressed, Quinto said he wouldn’t like to reunite with J.J Abrams for any role or cameo in Star Wars Episode VII without good reason but surprisingly, he did add that Abrams is planning to direct Star Trek 3, despite the fact that it would directly conflict with his Star Wars filming schedule.

Obviously as he said it, “nothing is confirmed yet” so its all still up in the air, but I for one wouldn’t mind one bit if J.J. was able to come back and direct the 3rd film as well as Star Wars Episode VII.
