Mommy dearest,the Wolf Spider
Here we have a wolf spider. This is the only species of spider where you will see the mother actually carry her offspring alive and on her back. They start out as eggs in a silk globe she hauls around on her stomach, with a gestation of 9-27 days, these babies hatch and hold on to mum until they are able to hunt on their own. Perhaps now knowing this you’ve grown some compassion for these furry little arachnids? Chances are, no, no you haven’t and that picture made you squirm, but now you know, that some spiders have some type of maternal instinct, which I give a give a big thumbs up to.
