Is Nintendo finally making a Pokémon Augmented Reality MMO?

Not quite, but they’re getting closer. Nintendo announced today that coming soon to the Nintendo 3DS are two new downloadable games that tie into its release of Pokémon Black/White 2.

The first game is an upgrade of its current downloadable game, Pokédex 3D Pro. According to the official release statement the Pokédex 3D Pro, will not only have information Pokémon from the Unova region, but now also for every Pokémon in the history of the series. So players will now have access to a full series of information (and 3D models) of close to 700 Pokémon.

The second game, however is much more exciting for fans. Pokémon Dream Radar is an upcoming Nintendo 3DS exclusive title that will be available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop later this year (probably around the time Black/white 2 come out in the USA). Pokémon Dream Radar sports a full on  motion-controlled shooting game set up (close to one of the 3DS preloaded AR games) where, using  its Augmented Reality system, you physically have to chase down and catch Pokémon that appear in your living room, house, yard, etc.

While this is currently speculated as a mock up by Nintendo, fans are quickly loving the idea of catching Pokémon this way, and for many, its a fresh change and a huge step in the right direction for Nintendo on the future of the Pokémon franchise.
