Anthony Mackie confirms role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
News Day caught up with actor Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, The Adjustment Bureau) and was finally able to discusses with him this recent casting rumor of his involement as Sam Wilson/The Falcon in Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
“I’m playing the Falcon. He’s this guy in Harlem who moved to California and became a drug dealer. His plane crashed, and he was genetically altered, and he can fly, has telepathic powers. He’s the first African-American superhero. It makes me feel all the work I’ve done has been paying off. I have a son, nephews and nieces, and I love the idea that they can dress up as the Falcon on Halloween. They now have someone they can idolize. That’s a huge honor for me.”
This announcement adds to the already star filled with Samuel L. Jackson returning as S.H.I.E.L.D. head Nick Fury, Sebastian Stan reprising his role as James “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier and the rumros that Black Widow and Hawkeye are set to have roles in the film as well.
Clearly this movie aims to top the first one, and to give fans a worthwhile followup.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is currently slated to be released April 4, 2014.
