Henry Cavill on the Snyder Cut and the Realization of a Storyteller’s Vision
Last Thursday, Henry Cavill joined the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host, Josh Horowitz, to talk about Cavill’s latest film, Enola Holmes, his love for fantasy fiction, and of course, the legendary Snyder Cut. DC fans have been clamoring for the release of Zack Snyder‘s cut of Justice League for over two years, and their prayers were finally answered this past summer during a watch-along of Man of Steel. Both Snyder and Cavill were present during a Q&A session at the end of the stream to announce the Snyder Cut coming to HBO Max in 2021.
When asked about his thoughts towards the infamous cut of Justice League, Cavill had nothing but excitement to share for both fans of the DC Universe and Snyder himself.
“I’m just really excited to see his vision realized. He got to be the train. I think it’s only fair that that train gets to reach its station which he was aiming for, and I think it’s important that that vision is realized. Whether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s a storyteller’s, it’s a filmmaker’s right to have that vision realized. I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to see what that vision was and how it looks.”
Cavill has been very vocal about his support for Snyder, and had a similar message in an interview with Sir. Patrick Stewart this past June. To expand on Cavill’s message, the most important lesson from the Snyder Cut movement is allowing an artist, filmmaker, or story teller to express their art without interference or compromise. After more than two years of campaigning, Snyder will finally get to have his cut of Justice League released thanks to the devotion and support of his family, cast and crew, and fans.
Cavill also teased something more to come following Zack Snyder’s Justice League, hinting at “a series of movies”.
“[Zack’s] got the advantage of hindsight now. It’s going to be even better. I just want to see a good movie or a series of movies.”
Known for being coy regarding DC films, Cavill may just be teasing. However, as TCN has previously reported, sources have confirmed Cavill has already signed a new contract to appear as Superman in several undisclosed DC films in the future.
We will get to see Cavill’s Superman once again in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021 on HBO Max.
