[Review] Justice League Vs Teen Titans(2016)
Justice League Vs Teen Titans was released in 2016. The movie was directed by Sam Liu, and stars Stuart Allen, Taissa Farmiga, Kari Wahlgren, Sean Maher, Jason O’Hara, and Jon Bernthal. The plot sees Robin sent to join the Teen Titans after disobeying Batman. Robin quickly finds himself at the center of a demonic invasion by the father of one of his teammates Raven.
It’s nice to see the Titans introduced in this shared universe, It’s pretty much exactly what I expected, fun interactions between likeable characters, this shared universe as a whole puts an emphasis on that. I thought the pacing here was much better than previous movies in this universe, everything feels fleshed out enough and nothing feels rushed. The animation as always is really fluid and makes for engaging fight scenes. The voice acting, again, is fantastic, Stuart Allen in particular.
As far as other flaws go I didn’t really have any apart from a few nitpicks. I feel like the title was a tad misleading, as the confrontation lasts not much longer than 2 minutes. There’s a weird suit transformation scene in the middle with actual sparkles, which totally pulled me out of the film. Cyborg becomes like an honorary member of the team, for no other reason than he’s an original Titans member.
This movie was really good, Sam Liu directed his first film for this universe and he did not disappoint. The animation and voice acting maintain the same quality as previous films, which is to say they’re great. There’s some small flaws here and there, but nothing really substantial. This one is an enjoyable ride, and a lot of fun, especially for Titans fans.
