Disney announces “Avengers: Doomsday” & “Avengers: Secret Wars” delays

Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the Avengers assemble.

Disney announced yesterday that its two upcoming Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, have been delayed. The next Avengers film, Doomsday, has been pushed back from May 1, 2026, to December 18, 2026. The second film, Secret Wars, was originally slated for May 7, 2027, but has now been similarly delayed to December 17, 2027. Disney has not shared the reason behind these delays, and time will tell if they ever do.

Doomsday will be the first Avengers film since 2019’s Endgame which is, admittedly, a massive movie to follow. Many members of the very large cast have been announced. Perhaps the most noteworthy was the revelation of Robert Downey, Jr. playing the infamous Doctor Doom. But what about the delays? With Marvel consistently putting out content in the theater and at home on Disney+, perhaps these delays are part of an effort to slow things down and focus on making these next two films the same level of quality as the first four. Or perhaps production simply got delayed or certain schedules didn’t align. Whatever the reason, fans still have two big Avengers movies to look forward to!

Are you disappointed by the delays? Or do they give you hope that the end-products will be even bigger and better? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
