Jeri Taylor, beloved ‘Star Trek’ writer, has passed away at 86
One of the biggest nerd fandoms out there belongs to Star Trek fans, or “Trekkies” as they’re called. And today they mourn the loss of a beloved writer for the show, Jeri Taylor, who has passed away at 86. Born in Indiana, Taylor would travel to the far reaches of the galaxy as a writer for both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. For The Next Generation she was a writer and even became its showrunner for the final season. Likewise, for Voyager she was showrunner for its first four season and a co-producer for the show as well.
In addition to Star Trek, she worked on other series such as Quincy, M.E. and Magnum, P.I. Taylor was praised for her kindness as well as her willingness to help young writers. Not only a writer and producer in her own regards, she sought to help new writers come into their own as some have taken to Instagram to share in the wake of her passing. Jeri Taylor has not only left a mark on a beloved franchise, but she’s left a mark on the people she helped shape along the way too.
