First look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher

Toss a coin to your new Witcher.

The first official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in The Witcher has been revealed by Entertainment Weekly. The actor, who takes over the role from Henry Cavill in season 4, has fairly large boots to fill, but he certainly looks the part.

Netflix announced that the series will finish after season 5. This means we can expect to see Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in The Witcher for seasons 4 and 5. Both seasons are currently being shot back to back and will complete the adaptation of the three remaining Witcher books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.

There has been some controversy with the show in recent years, first with Cavill’s departure, followed by reports that the actor wasn’t pleased with how the source material was being adapted. Before taking on the role, Cavill, a self-proclaimed fan of The Witcher, found the world to be creatively inspiring and a new way to test himself. His departure following season 3 left many fans disappointed.

Here’s what creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had to say at the commencement of filming season 4.

It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher season 3 is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 4 will be released soon.
