Sorry, No Ridley Scott Halo film anytime soon

Yesterday seemed to be a big day for Halo fans. First a twitter feed seemingly revealed that a Halo film (separate from Spielberg’sHalo TV series) was in production, then The Official Xbox Magazine UK site nabbed an “exclusive” interview talking about the proposed film and revealed that none other than Ridley Scott was producing it.

Ridley Scott is a legend in Sci-Fi film making, and film making in general. Alien, Blade Runner, and Prometheus are all proof that Scott knows what he’s doing in that genre. So with that news, fans were ready.

But then, Microsoft came in and commented and it all stopped. Earlier this morning a Microsoft Spokesman told Eurogamer the following:

“As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.

“We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time.”

While for many this dream-crushing moment seems devastating many find comfort that we at least still have Spielberg’s Halo TV series coming.
