Earlier this week it was revealed that the upcoming Batman TV Series coming to Fox called “Gotham” will also now feature a young Bruce Wayne as well as the origins of several of Batman’s most prominent rogues.
Collider recently talked to Fox chairman Kevin Reilly who revealed how the role of a young Bruce Wayne will fit into this new show:
“The show will track Bruce from a child (around 12-year-old) until he puts on a cape (in the finale)… We will see how they get to become what they are as Gotham is teetering on the edge. It is an operatic soap with a larger than life quality.”
Sure sounds familiar doesn’t it? While many are criticizing the idea that instead of making a Commissioner Gordon crime drama that many were hoping for, we are now seeing a teenage Batman who’s finding himself just like we saw with Superman in Smallville. Even the show’s name follow the same pattern.
While its true that it would be interesting to see a TV show of the origin, and potentially seeing Edward Nashton become The Riddler, and maybe even see the Red Hood run around is exciting, many cant get past the obvious, this could have been something different for a change.
