Halo: Forward unto Dawn Part 3
Willkommen!
With the second week’s installment, we saw that Cortana and Chief are aimlessly floating around somewhere and that our “hero” has a reason he is so anti-war. Kind of. Let’s take a quick look at week 3 and see if something exciting is finally going to happen!
Okay, now that’s more like it! Once again, the beginning is leaving me on the edge of my seat. Now Cortana is really losing it. Hopefully the Chief can pull her back to sanity. If he ever wakes up that is. I’m still not even sure if the intros are just promoting the game, or if it’s going to actually tie in to the story somehow. Oooh the suspense!! Okay, first up, we learn that Lasky is having an allergic reaction from the Cytoprethelelene, a shot used to induce cryo-sleep. He has horrible rashes and boils everywhere and it now passing out. So I’m guessing it must be getting worse. He is presented with a ticket to leave if he so desires, but if it’s getting to a point where he is fainting, they probably shouldn’t have given him a choice. Whatever though… Anywho! It’s absolutely clear now that he is only in the UNSC because he feels it’s his duty to live up to his family’s name. Unfortunately, we learn that the videos that obviously kept him grounded and composed, were from his now late older brother. With that, we finally get to bare witness to his mother’s icy demeanor.
The quick and to the point romance scene wasn’t terrible. Not really feeling the chemistry between them, but oh well. It’s not something to focus on and the length was good enough and not overplayed. Now comes the part we were all waiting for – the battle has begun! I really wish I could say there was a bigger impact when Dimah ran away into the escape pod, but there wasn’t much to any secondary characters for me to feel anything.
Seeing the hell jumpers crash into the base was what gave me hope for this series. We finally get to see some real soldiers, and get that epic Halo element we’ve been waiting for.
Okay now, when the Elite finally comes into view, my jaw dropped and my heart started racing. The plasma sword and armor shining through the dense smoke had such a startling effect, that this was really the first time I was drawn in. I’m not sure, I guess seeing a Covenant soldier out of the game in a live action setting was just too much for me to take in all at once. I absolutely loved how threatening it looked. Whew! deep breaths now, I don’t even know what I’m going to do when we see the chief. I guess we are just going to have to wait until the 26th to see what Microsoft and 343 Industries has in store for us.
And this is why I don’t like getting caught completely up on shows. This whole waiting process just kills me. Well, I guess I’ll see you all Friday with what I’m sure is going to be a most joyous ride. Thanks again!
