“Star Wars: Clone Wars” Gendy Tartakovsky’s Cartoon is Coming to Disney+

The action-heavy cartoon by Samurai Jack creator Gendy Tartakovsky is on its way to Disney+. The epic, artistically-rich 2003-2005 series may have aired a long time ago, but fortunately, reliving all three spectacular seasons is not so far, far away, as it lands on the streaming platform this April.

Silent, show-don’t-tell storytelling is at the heart of everything in Tartakovsky’s take on Disney’s prequel-era production. Clone troopers wielding entire arsenals of weapons, deploying militaristic-style battlefield maneuvers, and displaying next-level combat skills in hopeless situations are just some of the gems hidden in this cult-classic. Though the animation may be simplistic, the wonderous wartime spectacles and other such spectacular scenes really become unbound in the property’s grand displays.

The samurai-like interpretations of Jedi and Sith all make grand appearances. Almost every major character like Anakin, Obi-Wan, Count Dooku, and Chancellor Palpatine all show up, wreaking havoc with their devastating lightsaber skills and unleashed force powers, which exceed the scope of anything seen in other Star Wars media. While the show is not currently canon, it did introduce the fan-favorite Asajj Ventress into the universe, while also giving an exceptional explanation to General Grievous‘ breathing problems in Revenge of the Sith.
