Universal Wants “John Wick” Directors for “Cowboy Ninja Viking” movie, starring Chris Pratt

Universal Studios has approached David Leitch and Chad Stahelski to direct their upcoming action spy thriller, Cowboy Ninja Viking. With Chris Pratt already in talks to star in the film, there is some major talent being attached to this project. Variety reports that Chris Pratt has already met with the directors, and has given his “stamp of approval” for the film.

The film is an adaptation of an Image graphic novel of the same name written by AJ Lieberman with art done by the amazing Riley Rossmo. The book follows a man suffering from multiple personality disorder, who was trained by a secretive government organization to use those personalities to make him a skilled assassin. Those personalities are, obviously, those of a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking. It is a crazy fun ride, and I’m thrilled to see it be adapted into a movie.

Chris Pratt is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and Universal is fast tracking the project to ensure his involvement before his schedule fills up. Pratt is already attached to the Magnificent Seven remake filming later this year, the rumored Indiana Jones reboot, and The Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It’s not hard to see why people love this guy, and having him set to star as an assassin with split personalities just sounds incredible.

Adding to my excitement is the directing team of Leitch and Stahelski, who directed last year’s surprisingly awesome John Wick. It’s not just their only directing gig that excites me. The pair started up a production company called 87Eleven Action Design, which is a stunt organization responsible for the fighting in The Wolverine, The Bourne Legacy, and Expendables 3. I was pleasantly surprised at what these guys did behind the camera, and their experience as stunt men was evident throughout John Wick.
