Netflix’s Live-Action Scooby-Doo Series Casts Mckenna Grace as Daphne

Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series has officially found its first member of Mystery Inc.
According to Variety, Mckenna Grace has been cast as Daphne Blake in the streaming service’s new live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo. The announcement marks the first confirmed role in the series and signals that Mystery Inc. is officially beginning to take shape.

Grace is no stranger to genre storytelling, having built an impressive résumé across film and television. For longtime Scooby fans, however, this casting comes with an added layer of fun as she previously voiced a young Daphne in 2020’s animated feature Scoob!. Now, she’s stepping into the role in live action; a rare bit of franchise continuity that longtime fans will likely appreciate.

Netflix’s take on the beloved property is described as an origin story, exploring how the group first crossed paths. Earlier details indicate the series will center on a formative mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy, a case that ultimately sets the stage for the creation of Mystery Inc.
This isn’t simply a pilot test. Netflix has given the series a full eight-episode order, demonstrating clear confidence in the property from the outset.

The project hails from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Showrunners and writers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are attached to lead the series creatively.
While Daphne is the only confirmed casting so far, additional announcements for Fred, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby himself are expected in the coming months.

Since its debut in 1969, Scooby-Doo has remained one of pop culture’s most recognizable animated franchises, spanning numerous television iterations, animated films, and two early-2000s live-action features. Each generation has reinterpreted the formula while preserving its core ingredients: friendship, mystery, and the inevitable unmasking of a villain with an elaborate plan.

With a fresh origin story and a proven young talent stepping into Daphne’s iconic purple ensemble, Netflix appears poised to introduce the franchise to a new audience while giving longtime fans something familiar to hold onto.

No premiere date has been announced.
