Gremlins 3 Slated for 2027

The third Gremlins film will be released in 2027 with Chris Columbus to direct and Steven Spielberg returning as executive producer.

I did not have this on my bingo card. According to Deadline Gremlins 3 is on the way. The film was announced by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav this week in a Third Quarter 2025 earnings call.

Gremlins 3 is the third Gremlins movie to be be released since 1984. The sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch came out back in 1990. Both films were directed by Joe Dante with the first film being written by Chris Columbus who now returns to direct the third movie.

The first film saw a young man named Billy Peltzer being gifted a mysterious but cute little creature named Gizmo. Breaking two important rules regarding the creature’s care he inadvertently unleashes mayhem on his small hometown. In the second film a new batch of outrageous Gremlins run amock in a high tech skyscraper in New York City.

A previous draft of Gremlins 3 was written by Toby Halbrooks and Carl Ellsworth. This latest script is written by Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. Details of the plot and casting is unknown at this time.

Gremlins 3 hits theaters November 19, 2027.
