Warner Bros. Discovery is Splitting in 2026
For those who remember, Warner Bros. and Discovery merged together into what’s now Warner Bros. Discovery just a few years ago in 2022. Now, they’re splitting into two separate entities.
This split was announced on Monday. David Zaslav, the current leader of the organization, will be the CEO and president of the “Streaming & Studios,” set to be called Warner Bros.. This will include HBO Max, HBO, and DC Studios, along with Warner Bros. Television and Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group. While Zaslav is steering that ship, CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, Gunnar Wiedenfels, will become both CEO and president for the other half: “Global Networks,” set to be named Discovery Global. Discovery Global will be comprised of premier entertainment, news, and sports. It will also have Discovery+ streaming.
The idea behind it seems to be for more growth and streamlined focus for each company, as well as making things sweeter for shareholders. This change will take place in 2026. Until then, Zaslav and Wiedenfels will remain in their present positions.
