New Superman Trailer Soars Online With Explosive New Footage
Warner Bros. has officially opened ticket sales for Superman, the highly anticipated cinematic relaunch of the DC Universe under James Gunn, alongside a brand-new and possibly final trailer, giving fans an action-packed look at a bold new take on the original superhero.
Superman, played by David Corenswet, is flying headfirst into a world that sneers at kindness with cynicism. Meta-humans work for established corporations, and the most powerful man alive, acting as a noble loan gunman, is bad for business for the likes of Lex Luthor.
’Nicholas Holt’s portrayal of Superman’s arch-nemesis narrates the first portion of the trailer, exuding a chilling blend of intellect and menace. “Who raised you as a child? I’ll kill them too,” Luthor snarls. In another line, he tells his subordinates to disregard civilian casualties, blaming Superman.
The trailer also delivers a dose of bravado, with a shot of Guy Gardner, played by Nathan Fillion, taunting the Man of Steel to “make a move, big blue. ” He may be completely outmatched, but he is fearless, and that’s all that counts to wield a green ring of willpower.

In true James Gunn fashion, the cinematography feels intimate and visceral. One standout sequence shows Superman delivering a powerful punch that knocks a goon’s tooth clean out, and we follow the tooth mid-air as it clinks against the camera lens. I loved this little wink to the audience.
We also get glimpses of Superman facing off against enemies in what looks kind of like the Phantom Zone, but who knows, it could be anything with Gunn. There are a lot of fast shots of pure sci-fi and comic book madness here that I know I will be seated to see on IMAX.

Alongside Corenswet and Hoult, the film stars Rachel Brosnahan as none other than Lois Lane, and a whole cast of classic DC pulls, including Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and more. Behind the scenes, Gunn is joined by cinematographer Henry Braham (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), composer John Murphy (The Suicide Squad), and production designer Beth Mickle.
With epic action, heartfelt character moments, and a Superman finding his way to lead with empathy and courage, this film looks to set the tone for a crowd-pleasing DC cinematic universe.
