From game to TV show, the underlying themes remain consistent.
Neil Druckmann, creative director of The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II videogames took to Twitter to announce that Gustavo Santaolalla, the composer of the original musical scores for both games will be joining the production of The Last of Us TV show for HBO.
Santaolalla has been composing music for both film and TV for the last 20 years, having provided scores for The Book of Life, 21 Grams, and recently Narcos: Mexico. He was awarded the Academy Award for Original Music Score for both Brokeback Mountain and Babel, along with a BAFTA Award for Original Music Score for The Motorcycle Diaries.
Santaolalla’s work with Naughty Dog for The Last of Us series is his only work in the videogame music industry so far.
The release date for The Last of Us TV show has not yet been confirmed by either Sony or HBO.
