One of the most unique aspects of the Star Wars franchise is its canon timeline which is expressed through multiple mediums including movies, animated & live action television, novels, comics, and more. While Lucas’ franchise has been expressed in manga before in film adaptations, Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga will be the first original content to arrive in the Japanese format. According to Slash Film, VIZ Media, a Japanese manga publishing company, is collaborating with Lucasfilm to bring Luke Skywalker to life Japanese style.
The story has been written and drawn by well-known manga artists including Akira Himekawa, Haruichi, Subaru, Akira Fukaya, and Takashi Kisaki. The stories included are inspired by Ken Liu’s Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Lucasfilm has provided the first few pages of the now available manga via Twitter:
