Papa Midnite is the big bad of NBC’s Constantine
A new report from Bleeding Cool has revealed that the character Papa Midnite will be the reoccurring antagonist of the show.
For those who dont know, in the comics Papa Midnite is an immortal mob boss, businessman, and over all voodoo practitioner operating out of New York City. Previously featured in the 2005 Constantine film and played by Djimon Hounsou, in the film he acted more along the lines of an ally to Constantine rather than foe.
No word yet on casting for Papa Midnite, but along with the news came some interesting tid-bits on the pilot itself. The pilot episode is set in New York, with some scenes taking place in the Ravenscar Psychiatric Hospital, which is also now set in New York (instead of the UK like in the Hellblazer comics).
While fans may not like the idea of the show taking place in New York, at least we got ourselves an actual man from the UK playing the title role. Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, Black Sails) is set to direct the pilot episode from a script by Daniel Cerone and David Goyer.
