After the big reveal at the end of The Dark Knight Rises that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Character John Blake’s real name was Robin and that he was given the keys to the Batcave, many speculated that the franchise would live in with this character.

Obviously at this point we know that’s not going to happen.

Recently while promoting his new film Don John on the Late Show with David Letterman, the actor was finally asked why he thinks they didn’t move forward with him leading the franchise.

“Well, I think these new movies aren’t necessarily…I don’t know first of all. I haven’t read any of the new movies. I’m not involved in them at all. But I don’t know if they are so much a continuation of the Christopher Nolan Batman.”

“I don’t think they’re really very connected. At least, I don’t…I actually don’t know,”

He then is asked what he thinks about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman any why everyone is fussing about it, to which he goes on to say:

“I don’t know, I think he’s gonna be really good. The guys is a great actor!”
