[E3 2013] PlayStation Plus Required for Online Multiplayer on PS4
In a very interesting development, it turns out Sony is Adapting Xbox Live’s example and requiring their Paid membership, PlayStation Plus, to be active for Online Multiplayer.
This developement was revealed in the fine print included on a newly released Sony PS4 Advertisement showing the console’s simple secondhand game process.
The fine print in the video above states, “PS4 multiplayer online access requires PSN account & PS Plus subscription.”
As fans already know, a PlayStation Plus subscription costs $17.99 for three months or $49.99 for a full year. But now Sony will be offering a new one-month subscription for $9.99.
Existing subscribers of the service on PS3/PS Vita will have their memberships extended to PS4, with it the PS4 service will also begin including one free PS4 game per month from the Instant Game Collection, with DriveClub available as part of the program at launch.
For those who want to see this in comparison to how Microsoft does things, The current Xbox Live Gold, which is required for online use of the console on Xbox 360, costs $24.99 for three months and $59.99 for 12 months.
