The CW’s WONDER WOMAN Show ‘AMAZON’ Still A Possibility
With the obvious success over the years with previous hero themed TV shows like Smallville, Aquaman (yes it only got a pilot but everyone who watched it agrees it was awesome), and the newly created and widely praised Green Arrow show titled Arrow, its no doubt that the CW would be looking at their next hero to bring to TV, and last November we first got word that they found it, in the form of a Wonder Woman origin show entitled ‘Amazon.’
But then the unfortunate happened, the CW passed on it stating the series and concept needed “further development” before it could move forward. Today that all seemed to change, CW President Mark Pedowitz seemed extremely excited about the potential of Amazon coming to TV soon, and when asked if the show was still a possibility of the show coming sooner rather than later he replied stating, “Oh God yes.”
“[Amazon] is being redeveloped. We’re waiting for the script to come in. We have not seen it yet. We are preparing to pilot it off-cycle should the script be what we want it to be. We do not want to produce something that doesn’t work for that particular character. It is the trickiest of all the DC characters to get done.”
The original concept was centered around a young Amazonian girl named Diana who decides to leave her home Themyscira and life as a warrior to experience the world of man for herself. The show would center around the idea of this superpowered warrior who comes from a heavily isolated world and what it would be like for her to discover and interact with our world.
While its not clear what needed to be reworked, its likely thanks to the recent success of Arrow that the studio is taking the concept of the show much more seriously.
