The Last of Us gets a new trailer and a May 2013 release date
Last weekend was the Video Game Awards on Spike TV. While I never personally watch the event, I always closly follow its aftermath due to the off chance something cool gets announced, and this year, we got a couple of cool things.
Sony have released a new trailer for Naughty Dog’s next, and highly anticipated, PlayStation 3 game The Last of Us, and along with the trailer came a a release date announcement of May 7th, 2013 in both the U.S. and Europe.
With the announcement also came the news that pre-ordering The Last of Us in both regions will get you the game’s “Sights and Sounds Pack,” which according to reports includes the game’s official soundtrack (which if its anything like any of their previous games it will be beautifully epic), a PS3 dynamic theme, and PSN avatars of Winter versions of Joel and Ellie.
IT was also revealed that pre-ordering the game from GameStop will get you the “Survival Pack“, which includes all the same content as the “Sights and Sounds Pack” but also comes with bonus experience points for the game’s multiplayer mode, extra starting in-game cash, special customizable character items for multiplayer, a multiplayer melee attack booster, and two unlockable bonus skins for Joel and Ellie.
The reveal of that second pre-order bonus seemingly also let the news go for an official confirmation that they game will indeed include multiplayer, which rumors suggest is very similar to that of the Uncharted series.
The Last of Us hits the PS3 in the US on May 7th 2013.
