Nintendo Confirms Cast for Live-Action Legend of Zelda Film

Nintendo has officially announced the lead roles for the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.

Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced on X that Bo Bragason (The Radleys, The Jetty) will be playing Zelda, along with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Pinocchio), who will be playing Link.

Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) will direct the film, while Nintendo and Sony will co-produce. The film follows the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Ball knows how important this franchise is to its fans. He previously said in an interview with Total Film that “I want to fulfill people’s greatest desires. I know it’s important, this franchise, to people, and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape… [It has] to feel like something real. Something serious and cool but fun and whimsical.”

The Legend of Zelda is currently set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.
