Yuji Horii Reveals A Chrono Trigger Remake Is Being Considered During The 30th Anniversary Year of the Game

Chrono Trigger co-writer Yuji Horii recently shared his thoughts about a Chrono Trigger remake during his Gamereactor interview at Comicon Napoli. Horii confirmed the enduring fan demands and his own wish to return to the game by saying “Yes, I want to do something.” The remake of Chrono Trigger remains one of the most frequently requested games from fans so I am beginning to think about it.
“It has been a long time. Yes, I want to do something. Currently, Dragon Quest has seen 3, 1 and 2 Remakes. I get a lot of requests for the remake of Chrono Trigger as well, and so I am starting to contemplate on it.”
The news emerged after reports of Horii accidentally revealing a Chrono Trigger remake at Napoli Comicon through a panel appearance during the previous week. The initial reports about the announcement turned out to be false because of a mistranslation of the actual footage and translations.
Square Enix has not made any official statements about a Chrono Trigger remake but Horii’s comments have brought back enthusiasm from the fanbase. The success of Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake has led fans to speculate that Chrono Trigger could use a similar visual approach for its potential remake.
The 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger continues to fuel fan anticipation for any news about a possible remake. The game remains accessible through Steam and mobile platforms for new players to discover its classic story.
