First look at Stephen King’s “The Stand” TV adaptation revealed
Stephen King’s novels have been widely known to be made into live-action adaptations in Hollywood. The latest to join this list of adaptation is The Stand. The Stand was published in the year 1978 and was previously adapted as a miniseries on ABC network in 1994 and is on its way to be adapted into a TV show and will be released on CBS All Access.
The Stand follows the story of a global pandemic that wipes out the majority of life on Earth except for a small population of people. Those that are left fending for themselves have to make the hard choice of acting for themselves and simply doing whatever they want now that no rules are in place, or working together for the sake of others. Ironically, the timing for the release of this show could not have been more perfect than this. Because, take it with a pinch of salt if you may, the viewership of these “Post-apocalyptic” thrillers has only increased since the global pandemic of the Coronavirus hit our reality.
On Wednesday morning, King’s readers were treated with the release of the first look at The Stand with the photos sharing the looks of characters played by stars like Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgard, Owen Teague, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Heather Graham, and Nat Wolff.
King’s earlier adaptations have been fairly successful and have shown to strike a chord with the readers of the author’s novels. They are gripping and make you stay hooked on to the narrative until the end thanks to the pure nature of the storytelling involved. The Stand looks to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors and seems to be as grand and alluring as the book. No release date has yet been announced for the show, although reports have suggested a 2020 release seems more likely.
