Josh Trank and Gareth Edwards Both Confirmed Directors For Star Wars Films
Josh Trank was just announced as the Director for one of the many Star Wars Spin-offs coming in the near future. His career began with Chronicle, and is about to start production of the new Fantastic Four along with Simon Kinberg who is writing for both Fantastic Four and will be writing one of the Star Wars Spin Offs.
Even though it’s not confirmed if these two will be working together on the same Star Wars film, it can definitely be something to hope for. These two have great views and will push for the best when it comes to their final work. I for one hope they continue to develop movies together.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”
With Disney and Lucasfilm hoping to bring a new Star Wars film each year, with the main trilogy being released every other year, we might see Tranks film in 2018, assuming his is the second of the spin off series.
Gareth Edwards was just recently announced as well as one of the Directors for what seems to be a huge list of upcoming Star Wars films in our very near future. Gareth Edwards, was the director for the newly released Godzilla film this year. What looks like good news to the fans of the newest Godzilla adventure, Edwards is still longing for the hope to direct Godzilla 2. A likely possibility even with the huge demand that will come with a Star Wars film.
With Edwards being announced as the first director for the spin off series, it’s likely that he will also be the director of the first of the 3 spin off series as well. Which would set his movie to be released in 2016.
Godzilla was exactly what it needed to be for a successful and well planned film. Edwards has accomplished some great feats and has already put out great films in his career. We can only hope that his passion and mind will go into what may possibly be his greatest challenge.
I look forward to what this director can bring to the captivating world of Star Wars and I hope he has the drive to breathe new life into this franchise.
