Avi Arad Says a Marvel Crossover Film with Spider-Man Will Only Happen When They’re “Out of Ideas”

Ultimate-Spider-Man-Season-3

Ever Since the debut of Comic Book Films Fans have dreamed of an epic crossover film with their beloved Marvel Heroes. While fans can argue that this dream was fulfilled with The Avengers, many still hope that one day Spider-Man and the X-Men could appear in the now established Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But, as with every other past hope of this to occur, it seems like Spider-Man wont be joining their ranks for quite a long time.

Speaking to IGN, Spider-Man series Producer Avi Arad talked about the potential for a crossover film:

I think I’m probably a little bit of the militant here. I think it will take a moment in which we’ve run out of ideas. There’s so much to tell about Spider-Man. There’s so much to tell about the Sinister Six. The relationship between Spider-Man and Venom will bring a whole other world in.

“you know, in the toy business we used to make toys glow in the dark when they weren’t selling well and it gave at least another Christmas. We don’t need it yet.”

While at this point this sort of news isn’t surprising, and hopefully should let the rumors and hopes subside. Last time Sony “ran out of ideas” for Spider-Man, they rebooted the franchise entirely.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently slated for release on May 2, 2014.
