New gameplay of “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker” on the Switch 2 has been released

Nintendo has released fresh gameplay footage of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for the Switch 2, focusing on several combat-focused scenes. The new clips feature Link battling regular enemies, sparring with the swordsman Orca, and taking on some of the game’s iconic bosses.

The game is scheduled to launch on June 5, 2025, as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. This marks the first time Wind Waker will be available on the Switch 2. Originally released in 2002 for the GameCube, the game earned praise for its distinctive cel-shaded visuals and memorable characters. While a high-definition version was made for the Wii U, fans have long hoped for a proper release on newer Nintendo consoles.

The Wind Waker will be one of several GameCube classics launching on the platform, with others like SoulCalibur II and F-Zero GX arriving alongside it. Titles including Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Pokémon Colosseum are also planned for future release.

Players can check out the new gameplay footage through the Nintendo Today! app.
