Tron: Ares Trailer Takes Things to Another Level

Disney has released the first trailer for Tron: Ares. The trailer shows the world of Tron and our world start to bleed into one another in what seems to be an invasion from the computer software world.

The third Tron movie in the franchise’s 40 plus years stars Jared Leto as Ares. He leads the cast with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson and Jeff Bridges joining him.

A sequel to Tron: Legacy has been on the table since it’s announcement way back in 2010 and has gone through a string of directors as the film sat on the back-burner while Disney played with their Star Wars toys. Joachim Rønning finally took the reins of the project in February 2023 but was unable to start filming until January 2024 due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The film went through different phases with a direct sequel originally planned to Tron: Legacy, later becoming a reboot and now what seems to be a standalone sequel.

Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

Tron: Ares comes to theaters October 10, 2025.
