Aaron Pierre & Kyle Chandler are joining the DCU as Green Lanterns
The much awaited Lanterns series has had some big announcements this week! The Max original will be set in the DCU, and James Gunn has taken to Instagram this week to announce the official casting choices for John Stewart and Hal Jordan.
First up to bat is Aaron Pierre, who has landed the role of John Stewart. Pierre has starred in the film Rebel Ridge, the series Genius, and will be heard voicing the title character in Disney‘s upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King. Playing the other lead Lantern – the iconic Hal Jordan – will be Kyle Chandler. Chandler has played in Argo, Manchester by the Sea, and Super 8.
What’s exciting about this is not only the fact that this show – and the DCU more broadly – has now cast these beloved characters, but the world is finally about to see these Lanterns on the live-action screen. For anyone keeping up with DC films and television, there’s not been many live-action Lanterns to date. But between this upcoming show – and Nathan Fillion‘s upcoming role as Guy Gardner in next year’s Superman – fans of the beloved ring-bearers will finally get to see them on the screen again!
