Sequel to ‘The Passion’ may be around the corner!
Mel Gibson made waves with his 2004 blockbuster, The Passion of the Christ, centered around the final days and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. For a while now he has talked about a sequel to the film, The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. Now, it seems that the film may be closer than we’d thought!
According to an Italian news source, Italpress, Gibson was in Malta on a five-day visit scouting locations for the upcoming film. They say that he even met with the Maltese Prime Minister, Robert Abela, to discuss the film. Collider has reported that filming may start in 2025. What we do know is that Gibson has stated that the film may not be linear and may explore other realms. Jim Caviezel is also set to return in the role of Jesus.
It will be intriguing to see how this film displays such a pivotal event in human history for those of the Christian faith. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait for more announcements about when the movie is undergoing filming.
