Superman: Legacy – the first live-action film for the upcoming DCU – has gotten a recent announcement from its writer and director, James Gunn…and it’s not a shocker. The upcoming Superman film slated for release in 2025 will begin filming in March this year, according to a response from James Gunn on his Threads feed. He also commented in the feed that fans will not see a trailer for the film this year.
This shouldn’t surprise fans. The movie has yet to begin filming, and once it has been filmed, there will be a lengthy editing and special effects process. For a highly anticipated film with a slightly “controversial” background for those keeping up with the fall of the DCEU/rise of the DCU, Gunn will surely want to release a trailer that will captivate fans and draw in a large audience. With how the last few DC movies have done at the box office, this one can’t afford to flop, especially as many will – for better or worse – set their hopes and expectations for the rest of the DCU based on how this film performs.
