MultiVersus is an upcoming free-to-play platform fighter from WB Games and Player First Games. Like Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers, players can pick their favorite characters from DC Comics, Looney Toons, and more IP’s under the Warner Media umbrella to duke it out in multiple multiplayer modes.

Aside from facilitating some fantasy matchups between beloved characters, one of the most exciting aspects of MultiVersus is that it’s free-to-play and cross-platform. That means you and your friends can compete against each other or as a team, no matter which console you own, for zero cost. There are multiple online modes, including a team-based two vs. two formats, one vs. one matches, and four-player free-for-all.

The announced roster of characters is already impressive, including iconic characters such as the Iron Giant, Harley Quinn, Arya Stark, and Tom and Jerry. The fan-favorite is perhaps Shaggy, who Mortal Kombat fans have wanted forever. More characters will be revealed soon, and upcoming content-filled seasons will feature time-limited unlockables, such as exclusive outfits. There will be several maps to compete on, such as Batman‘s Batcave and Jake and Finn’s Treefort from Adventure Time.

MultiVersus is set to release in 2022 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC. However, you can sign up now to participate in the Closed Alpha starting May 19.
