Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox was released in 2013. The movie was directed by Jay Oliva, and stars Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd, Michael B. Jordan, and C. Thomas Howell. The plot sees the Flash finding himself in an alternate universe where everything is a twisted and different version of everything he knows, and it’s up to the Flash and the heroes of this world to make everything back the way it was.

This movie has really good pacing, trimming the fat and tie ins from the original comic. The plot progression is very natural and still manages to include a lot from the comics. This movie also manages to balance its characterization pretty well, so you get a lot of understanding even if there isn’t a lot of time devoted to it. You understand very quickly why everyone does what they do. The animation itself is also extremely fluid, making for impressive and quite beautiful action scenes. Movements flow and the choreography is so well done, it’s really something to be commended.

I wasn’t a big fan of the animation style however. The arms and legs feel too skinny and the heads look disproportionate from the torsos. This is more of a personal complaint but I figured I’d at least mention it.

This movie is top tier DC animation. Jay Oliva is an extremely talented director who manages to bring this great comic event onto film. With fluid animation that lends to great action scenes and tight pacing, this movie was a great kick off to DC’s new animated universe.
